“More than words.” How E.ON is putting people first alongside charity partner, Mind

Mental Health Awareness Week is a moment to pause, reflect and recognise something that touches every one of us — our mental wellbeing

This isn’t a once-a-year conversation. It’s a commitment that runs through everything we do, from how we support our customers and communities, to how we show up for each other at work.

Since 2022, we’ve partnered with Mind, to help ensure that no one has to face a mental health problem alone.

A partnership making a real impact

Mental Health Awareness Week takes place from 11th–17th May and this year our charity partner Mind is highlighting a simple but powerful truth: Great mental health care is human.

That means seeing the person, not just the patient. It means care that starts with understanding what someone has experienced, offering practical help when life feels overwhelming and providing a kind voice at the right moment. Across England and Wales, Mind’s trained experts are online, on the phone and at the heart of local communities, delivering support that really does make a difference.

By supporting Mental Health Awareness Week, we’re helping to raise awareness of the importance of compassionate, person centred mental health care and ensuring more people can access the help they need.

Together with our colleagues, we’ve raised more than £500,000 to support Mind’s vital services — including helplines, peer-support communities and trusted information resources for people across the UK.

These funds are already making a tangible difference.  They could help Mind respond to thousands of people reaching out for support, keep its online peer community running, and provide vital mental health information to those who need it most.

This milestone reflects the passion and generosity of colleagues across E.ON, from marathon runners and fundraisers to everyday acts of giving, all united by a shared belief: mental health matters.

Why this work matters more than ever

Demand for mental health support continues to grow. Today, around one in five adults in England is living with a common mental health problem, with the impact felt most strongly in disadvantaged communities.
That’s why partnerships like ours with Mind are so important — not only in raising funds, but also helping to break stigma, start conversations and ensure support is there when it’s needed.

As a business that serves millions of customers, we see first-hand how financial pressures, life changes and uncertainty can affect mental wellbeing. That’s why our commitment extends beyond fundraising, into how we operate as a responsible, people-first organisation.

Creating a workplace where people can thrive

At E.ON, being a great place to work means putting people first and that starts with mental health.
Our partnership with Mind, has helped us embedded wellbeing into our culture, not just our policies.
Our colleagues have access to training, resources and support that help them look after their own mental health and support others.

  • Over 100 trained “Wellbeing Warriors” champion mental health across the business
  • Open “Time to Talk” sessions create space for honest conversations
  • Specialist training equips colleagues to support vulnerable customers while protecting their own wellbeing

We also provide practical support through initiatives like wellbeing education, colleague networks, and benefits designed to help people balance work and life because creating a supportive environment isn’t just the right thing to do, it’s essential to helping people thrive.

Supporting customers and communities

Our focus on mental health goes beyond our workplace.

We know that challenges like fuel poverty and financial stress can have a significant impact on wellbeing. That’s why we’re committed to supporting vulnerable customers with empathy, care and practical help, ensuring no one is left behind.

By working with Mind, we’re also helping to strengthen mental health support across the communities we serve, contributing to a wider movement for change.

Looking ahead

Mental Health Awareness Week is an important reminder, but for us, it’s also a continuation of the work we do every day.

Our partnership with Mind shows what’s possible when people come together with purpose. Whether it’s raising funds, supporting each other at work, or helping customers through difficult times, we’re proud to play our part.

Because at E.ON, putting people first isn’t just a principle — it’s how we create a better, more supportive future for everyone.
