Energy for everyone and making inclusion our priority
Energy is a force that can help shape lives, support communities, and ensure the sustainable future of our planet and we’re proud to reaffirm our commitment to equality diversity and inclusion.
We’re committed to creating a fair, sustainable, affordable energy future which leaves no one behind and which has inclusion at its core. Here, we explain why inclusion matters at E.ON, for our colleagues, and on behalf of our customers and our communities.
Why inclusion matters in the energy transition
The energy transition isn’t just about renewables or new technologies – it’s about people, and it’s about purpose. Clean energy goals cannot be met if large groups of society are left behind, unheard or unrepresented.
Inclusion matters because innovation thrives when different perspectives come together.
Communities that are often marginalised also face the greatest risks from climate change and energy insecurity, so ensuring they are part of the conversation makes our systems stronger and fairer. Most importantly, inclusion is about fairness. And the benefits of sustainable energy - affordable power, healthier communities and reduced emissions – must be shared equitably.
Our commitment at E.ON
For us, inclusion isn’t a campaign or a tick-box exercise. It’s part of our culture and how we work every day. We invest in training, embed inclusive leadership, and commit to listening, learning, and adapting so that everyone feels respected, safe, and heard.
A huge part of this progress comes from our colleague-led networks. Across nine active networks and more than 2,500 members, groups such as embRace, Fast Forward, adaptABILITY, LGBT+ & Friends, and Menopause Matters challenge our policies, bring lived experiences into decision-making, foster allyship, and help shape our culture. Our colleagues’ energy and passion ensure everyone at E.ON has the chance to belong and thrive.
Inclusion as the power behind transition
To make the energy transition truly fair, inclusion must guide our choices. That means ensuring access to clean, reliable energy for everyone, urban and rural, wealthy and low-income alike. It also means engaging directly with communities so that those most affected by infrastructure changes or new projects have their voices heard and acted upon.
Policy design is another area where inclusion is critical. Whether it’s subsidies and grants, tariffs, or green skills training, we need to consider who has been excluded and how to create opportunity. At the same time, we’re committed to building a workforce that reflects the society we serve. Because diverse talent is essential for the innovation a successful energy transition demands.
Looking ahead
Every day inclusion creates strength, fairness, and resilience. And at E.ON, we’re committed to making it real. Because when everyone is included, the energy transition becomes more than a technical challenge, it becomes a mission built on dignity, shared responsibility and a collaborative journey towards a better future.
