E.ON unveils ‘Green Funding Solutions Portal’, making it easier for people to access free energy solutions for their homes
- New online portal enables people to apply for, track and manage the installation of free(1) energy efficiency measures such as insulation, solar panels and heat pumps
- The new portal helps people navigate their grant-funded journey through two new major government schemes – the ‘Warm Homes: Local Grant’ and the ‘Warm Homes: Social Housing Fund’
E.ON has launched an innovative new online portal designed to streamline and improve the process for those applying for free (1) energy efficiency measures for their homes.
Building on E.ON’s already established Grant Finder which recommends the most suitable funding solution for people, the new ‘Green Funding Solutions Portal’ is specifically designed for those potentially eligible for support through the government’s two new schemes – the ‘Warm Homes: Local Grant’ and the ‘Warm Homes: Social Housing Fund’. Both these schemes are designed to retrofit energy efficiency improvements into people’s homes, reducing fuel poverty and energy bills while helping the UK reach its carbon reduction goals.
In what is believed to be an industry-first, people can now manage the whole process in one place – quickly, easily and at a time that suits them. This is intended to help customers feel more informed, engaged and empowered throughout what can be a lengthy process from applying to having energy efficient measures installed.
Other benefits include people being able to upload any documentation required to verify their eligibility, and tracking all their appointments in one place – from application to technical survey to installation across multiple measures. And further enhancements to the portal are planned over the coming months.
Vijay Tank, Chief Commercial Officer, E.ON Infrastructure Solutions, said: “As part of our mission to make homes, business and entire communities across the country more sustainable, it’s crucial we continue to explore and deliver new ways to make this process as easy and straightforward as we can.
“Our new Green Funding Solutions Portal is an excellent example of how we’ve combined our expertise, passion and innovative approach to deliver a digital solution that could help even more people access the support they’re entitled to. This will make homes warmer, more comfortable and more sustainable, while also helping to lower energy bills and improve the nation’s housing stock now and into the future.”
While the Green Funding Solutions Portal has only just been launched, the early feedback from customers has been positive, including Cheryl from Sheffield who found it “easy to use and navigate”, “clear” and “simple”.

Notes to editors
(1) Some fees are applicable to landlords. All applications made need to meet the eligibility criteria set by the local authority and the Department for Net Zero and Security. A financial test may be carried out to confirm eligibility and a free home survey is also required before improvement recommendations can be made to your home. Improvements are funded by the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero to help meet the UK zero carbon targets. Savings will depend on the property type, household size, energy usage, and the installed heating system.
