E.ON's Green Funding Solutions wins Greater London Energy Efficiency Award for transforming homes
E.ON’s Green Funding Solutions team has been recognised at the 2026 Greater London Energy Efficiency Awards, winning for its large-scale retrofit partnership with Barking and Dagenham Council, helping to make the energy transition fairer and more accessible for local communities.
The award celebrates the success of the long-running Cosy Homes partnership, which has delivered large-scale energy efficiency improvements to homes across the borough since 2020. Most recently, the partnership delivered a £3 million Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund project upgrading 107 hard-to-treat homes with measures including external wall insulation, loft insulation, cavity wall insulation, solar PV and ventilation improvements.
Speaking of the award, Green Funding Solutions Director Jamie Brookes said: “This award is fantastic recognition of the impact our teams and partners are making to communities across London. Our work with Barking and Dagenham Council is helping people to live in warmer, more energy-efficient homes today and for the future. That means reduced bills and support for local sustainability ambitions at the same time. This project demonstrates how collaboration, innovation and long-term investment can help make the energy transition fairer and more accessible for everyone.”
The project is expected to deliver an estimated 93 tonnes of carbon savings in 2025, while improving comfort, reducing energy use and helping tackle fuel poverty for residents.
The award also recognises the wider social impact delivered through the partnership, including the donation of 64 solar panels and battery storage to the Royal British Legion building in Barking and Dagenham, helping to reduce operating costs for a vital local community hub.
Barking and Dagenham continues to be a key area for E.ON’s ambition to help create fairer, more sustainable communities through the energy transition. Alongside the award-winning Cosy Homes partnership, E.ON is also leading pioneering work in Becontree through a landmark ‘net zero neighbourhood’ demonstrator, combining energy efficiency improvements, solar, battery storage, heat pumps and community energy solutions to show how affordable decarbonisation can be delivered at scale. The projects build on Barking and Dagenham Council’s wider ambition to become a carbon neutral borough by 2030, while ensuring residents benefit from warmer homes, lower bills and cleaner local energy.
One resident who benefited from the programme said: “I am over the moon and in love with my new home. The work was done so professionally. I still can’t believe it’s my home when I walk up my path.”
