Energy Markets Graduates

We’re inviting applications for our Energy Markets graduate scheme

We’re committed to developing the green skills workforce of tomorrow, helping bridge the green skills gap and ensuring we have the talent needed to deliver the energy transition.

That’s why we’re inviting applications for our Energy Markets graduate scheme, to help us find and develop exceptional talent for entry-level roles within our Energy Markets division.

The scheme is highly competitive, and we aim to take on two graduates per year onto the two-year schemes. We’re now inviting applications for the following graduate placements:

  • Market Optimisation – rotating across four diverse teams over six months working in trading roles, looking at the wholesale market, forecasting third-party non-energy costs, and forecasting customer consumption.
  • Quantitative Risk – offering three eight-month rotations across technical roles, developing models and tools to assess key business risks – from grid scale battery revenues to understanding the impacts of flexibility on our operations.

Both pathways provide valuable insight into the world of energy and sustainability, while helping our graduates build strong networks across E.ON. Each rotation is designed to challenge, inspire, and equip our graduates with the skills, knowledge, and confidence to shape the future of energy.

Here’s what some of our current graduates have to say:

Ellen Rafferty, second year graduate on the Market Optimisation scheme: “Starting my career in energy markets through the graduate scheme has been an incredibly rewarding experience. Over the past year, I've had the chance to work in two amazing teams, which gave me exposure to completely different aspects of energy markets, having the chance to make meaningful contributions to a range of projects and challenges to step outside my comfort zone to develop new skills. If you are looking for a fast-paced, supportive, and exciting environment to work in, I cannot recommend the graduate scheme enough.”

Daniel Henman, first year graduate on the Market Optimisation scheme: "I was drawn to E.ON because I wanted to learn more about the UK energy landscape. From day one I have been supported – not only through a graduate specific network, but from my colleagues who have always been willing to share their time and knowledge. This culture has provided a foundation for me to rapidly increase my learning and begin to take on responsibility.”

George Duncan , first year graduate on the Quantitative Risk scheme: “As an Energy Markets Graduate, it is genuinely exciting to be part of a team that engages with every pillar of the business. From the very beginning of the scheme, my potential to make meaningful contributions has been recognised, and my work has felt important to the team. As someone who is eager to learn and always asking questions, I have found that Energy Markets is full of colleagues who are willing to take the time to share their expertise.”

George Chigladze, second year graduate on the Quantitative Risk scheme: “E.ON’s Energy Markets graduate scheme provides early responsibility, strong support, and exposure to real-time decision-making. My rotations so far have given me the opportunity to have a hands-on, data-driven impact from day one. The learning curve is steep, but brilliantly structured and supported by colleagues with deep expertise. With the industry constantly evolving, it’s a dynamic and collaborative environment to grow and build a meaningful career.”

Our graduate schemes are unique opportunities, providing graduates with the opportunity after years of study to gain a deep understanding the whole of Energy Markets and develop their professional career.

Applications for our 2026 graduate schemes are now open, click here to find out more and to apply before 31st October.
