More than half a million E.ON Next customers among the first to automatically receive £150 Warm Home Discount

  • Eligible E.ON Next customers will automatically get £150 towards their winter energy bills as part of the 2026/27 Warm Home Discount scheme.
  • E.ON Next has already started applying payments automatically, helping customers benefit as early as possible ahead of the colder weather.
  • Last winter, E.ON Next distributed over £140 million of support to more than 800,000 customers through the Warm Home Discount scheme.

More than half a million eligible E.ON Next customers have received £150 towards their energy bills through the 2026/27 Warm Home Discount scheme as energy costs remain front of mind for many households.

Recognising the importance of timely support during the colder months, E.ON Next has started applying Warm Home Discount payments as early as possible, giving eligible customers direct support towards the cost of keeping their homes warm through winter.

565,000 customers have already received the £150 payment automatically as a credit to their energy account, meaning they can put it to use over the colder winter months ahead. E.ON Next will continue issuing payments until the end of March as the supplier continues to receive new customer details from the Government helpline for the WHD Core Group and identifies eligible customers in the WHD Broader Group in Scotland.

Last winter E.ON Next provided over £140 million of support through the overall Warm Home Discount scheme, helping more than 800,000 customers.

Ramona Vlasiu, Chief Operating Officer at E.ON Next, said: “For a number of years, we’ve worked to apply Warm Home Discount payments to eligible customers’ bills as early as possible, so they can benefit as winter approaches. We know many households are already carefully managing their finances, and the colder months can bring added pressure as energy use increases to keep homes warm.

“We also have a range of support available to customers who need it. Depending on their circumstances, support can include direct financial help, affordable repayment plans and access to specialist advice.”

What other support is available from E.ON Next?

E.ON Next customers can access a wide range of support to help them stay warm this winter and manage energy bills this season and beyond.

  • Help with immediate costs: The E.ON Next Energy Fund helps eligible customers with direct financial support, replacement of inefficient or broken appliances such as a cooker, fridge or washing machine and debt write-off. Repayment plans can also be arranged around what a customer can afford, with no interest applied to the debt.
  • Help accessing wider support: Via the free Lightning Reach platform, customers can explore more than 2,500 grants and support schemes, alongside benefit checkers, debt advice and other vital support services. Since it began, the partnership has facilitated an estimated £2.6m in grants and £4.5 million in identified benefits. E.ON Next also works with charities that can provide additional advice for customers experiencing hardship.
  • Help for customers who need extra assistance: The Priority Services Register provides additional support to vulnerable customers who may need extra help managing their energy account, including priority support during a supply interruption and the option to nominate a family member or carer to help manage the account.

About the Warm Home Discount scheme

The Warm Home Discount scheme helps people who are potentially struggling to pay their energy bills during winter months. A one-off payment of £150, funded by energy suppliers, is applied as a credit onto customers’ electricity bills.

Who is eligible for support through the Warm Home Discount?

In England and Wales there is just the Core Group for those on certain means tested benefits1.

In Scotland there is both the "Core Group" and the "Broader Group". You may be part of the Core Group in Scotland if you are in receipt of certain benefits2. The Broader group includes a wide range of people who are not already eligible for the Core Group3.

If you're in the Core Group then you may qualify for the Warm Home Discount scheme automatically, and the Government will get in touch to let you know.

How will customers know if they’re eligible?

Customers in the Core Group who are eligible will be contacted by the beginning of January 2027.

Customers who have not been contacted by the beginning of January 2027, but who think they qualify for support should visit the Government’s Warm Home Discount website. Customers in the Broader Group in Scotland need to apply directly with E.ON Next, via eonnext.com/warm-home-discount.

When will customers get the payment?

Customers will receive the payment on their electricity account between October 2026 and March 2027. This includes customers on Smart Pay As You Go meters. Customers with traditional (i.e. non-smart) prepayment meters will be sent a top-up voucher to redeem.
