MEDIA ALERT: Energy customers reminded to submit meter reading ahead of Price Cap increase

  • E.ON Next is reminding customers to submit their meter readings, with the Energy Price Cap increasing on 1 October.
  • Customers on E.ON Next’s standard variable tariff (Next Flex) without a smart meter should submit their meter readings from five days before the price cap changes to five days after to avoid potentially overpaying.

E.ON Next is reminding customers on its standard variable tariff, Next Flex, to submit a meter reading to avoid potentially overpaying when the Energy Price Cap rises.

The energy regulator, Ofgem, has announced that from 1 October 2025, the price cap for a typical dual-fuel household, paying by direct debit and using gas and electricity, will increase to £1,755 per year.

Customers on a standard variable tariff who do not have a smart meter should submit a meter reading between 26 September and 6 October to ensure their usage is accurately recorded.

The quickest and easiest way for E.ON Next customers to submit a meter reading is through their online account.

Customers with a connected smart meter do not need to send a reading, as readings are sent automatically.

Millions of customers are making the switch to smart meters to avoid having to take meter readings while also helping them budget and use energy more efficiently. Customers who would like a smart meter installed should contact E.ON Next to book a smart meter appointment.
