How we’re building carer friendly careers at E.ON

The theme for Carers Week 2026 is Building Carer Friendly Communities, highlighting the positive impact that understanding, support and inclusion can have on the lives of unpaid carers. The campaign encourages individuals, employers and communities to take action to ensure carers feel recognised, valued and empowered.

We know that communities aren't just the places we serve, they're also the workplaces we create.
As we continue to support the transition to a more sustainable energy future, it's our colleagues who are leading the way. Every day, they help customers navigate change, support vulnerable households, develop innovative solutions and deliver essential services to communities across the UK. That's why looking after our people is so important.

Supporting those who support others

Many of our colleagues balance their role at E.ON alongside caring responsibilities for a loved one, family member or friend. Whether caring for an ageing parent, supporting a partner with a long-term condition or helping a child with additional needs, carers make a significant contribution both at home and at work.
Caring can be rewarding, but it can also bring challenges.

Balancing appointments, unexpected responsibilities and day-to-day care alongside a career requires understanding, flexibility and support. We believe that colleagues should never feel they have to choose between being successful at work and being there for the people who depend on them.

Creating a carer friendly workplace community

Building a carer friendly community starts with creating an environment where people feel comfortable talking about their experiences and accessing support when they need it.

We're committed to fostering an inclusive culture where colleagues can bring their whole selves to work. Through initiatives such as our carers' passport, flexible working principles and access to My Care Concierge, we're helping colleagues find the support that's right for their individual circumstances.

Our colleague networks also play an important role in creating connections, sharing experiences and ensuring carers know they are not alone. By encouraging open conversations and raising awareness of caring responsibilities, we're helping to build a culture where carers feel recognised and supported throughout the year.
