E.ON wins Engineering & Manufacturing Employer Award at Multicultural Apprenticeship Awards
This is a strong affirmation of our commitment to inclusive apprenticeship programmes and engineering/manufacturing pathways that reflect the diverse communities we serve.
We are proud to announce that E.ON UK has been awarded the Engineering & Manufacturing Employer Award at the Multicultural Apprenticeship Awards.
Apprenticeships are central to our talent strategy. The award underscores our long-standing belief that apprenticeships are not simply entry routes but powerful vehicles for diversity, inclusion, skills development and future-proofing our business. It affirms that we are creating pathways for talents from all backgrounds into engineering and manufacturing roles, equipping the next generation for the energy transition.
Inclusion and culture are backing our apprenticeship ambition
Our work in apprenticeships sits within a broader culture of diversity, equity and inclusion. Diverse representation is part of our aim to ensure that our workforce reflects the communities we serve, and that opportunity is genuinely open to all talent.
We back this with active colleague-led networks such as embRace, which supports open conversations about race and ethnicity, hosts webinars, and runs an ambassador programme to provide safe spaces for sharing experiences.
The embRace network also focuses on removing barriers to development: for example, launching the ‘embRace Your Talent’ initiative aimed at improving promotion rates and representation of ethnic minority colleagues across the company.
Together, this purposeful culture helps strengthen our apprenticeship programmes, ensuring that once on board, our apprentices are supported, visible and able to progress.
What the award recognises
The Engineering & Manufacturing Employer Award celebrates employers who:
- Design strong apprenticeship pathways in engineering/manufacturing,
- Actively recruit, retain and progress apprentices from diverse backgrounds,
- Engage meaningfully with multicultural talent pipelines and communities, and
- Align that work with strategic skills needs and the future of the sector.
In winning this award, E.ON has demonstrated excellence across those dimensions: from our programme design through to outcomes, culture and representation.
Looking ahead
Winning the award is a milestone rather than a finish line, and we’re already focused on what comes next. We plan to expand apprenticeship recruitment into under-represented communities, strengthen the conversion of apprentices into permanent roles with clear routes for progression, and continue evolving our apprenticeship design in areas such as emerging manufacturing, automation, sustainable engineering and digital technologies. We will also keep sharing best practice across E.ON and the wider industry to help raise standards for inclusive apprenticeship programmes everywhere.
A big thank you!
We extend our sincere thanks to every colleague, mentor, apprentice, training provider and partners who have helped build and support our apprenticeship ecosystem. This award reflects your dedication, passion and commitment to building an inclusive workforce of the future.
We’re excited to continue empowering talent, driving innovation, and ensuring that E.ON remains a leader in both the energy transition and the skills transition.
