E.ON update on Care Home energy bills
A statement from E.ON UK:
"Energy bills are already under pressure. Paying the wrong VAT rate shouldn’t be part of the problem.
E.ON Next and npower Business Solutions are urging organisations, including care homes, to check how they are categorised by their energy supplier to ensure they are being charged the correct VAT rate.
Care homes, for example, are typically eligible for a reduced VAT rate of 5 per cent, rather than the standard 20 per cent applied to many non-domestic customers. Where classifications are incorrect or unclear, organisations could be paying significantly more than necessary.
We encourage all organisations to review their billing arrangements and speak to their supplier if they are unsure. Getting this right is a simple step that can unlock meaningful savings and ensure businesses are not paying more than they should.
At a time when every pound counts, clarity matters."
