- Recognition reflects E.ON’s inclusive, purpose‑driven culture and strong focus on skills, wellbeing and belonging
E.ON in the UK – including E.ON Next, npower Business Solutions and E.ON Energy Infrastructure Solutions – has once again been recognised as one of the UK’s leading employers, ranking in the Top 10 Best Places to Work overall in The Sunday Times Best Places to Work 2026 awards.
The company has also been Highly Commended in the Best Places to Work for Women category, recognising its continued focus on widening opportunity, supporting progression and creating a workplace where women can thrive, regardless of their background or stage of their career.
Based entirely on colleague feedback, the recognition reflects E.ON’s ongoing commitment to creating an inclusive, forward‑thinking and purpose‑driven workplace, where people feel supported to grow their careers and make a meaningful difference every day.
Across the UK, E.ON colleagues are at the forefront of delivering the energy transition – from developing digital tools that simplify energy choices, to delivering energy upgrades in hospitals, supporting high streets and communities, and pioneering a home battery project in Coventry that is helping households save up to £300 a year on energy bills.
E.ON’s people‑first culture is backed by consistent, long‑term recognition. The company has appeared in the Inclusive Top 50 UK Employers List for ten consecutive years, including a Top 10 ranking in 2025, and has previously received Sunday Times Spotlight Awards for younger workers – underlining its reputation as a place where people at every stage of their career can thrive.
Chris Norbury, Chief Executive of E.ON UK, said:“Great workplaces are built by great people – and this award reflects that. The fact this recognition comes straight from our people makes it incredibly meaningful.
“Every day, colleagues across E.ON use their skills, ideas and care to support customers, communities and the UK’s energy transition. This recognition reflects a culture where people feel valued, included and able to grow, and I’m immensely proud of the teams who make E.ON such a positive place to build skills and make a real difference.”
E.ON’s Best Place to Work credentials are built on sustained, long‑term investment in its people. A focus on inclusion, safety and wellbeing forms the foundation of its culture, with a clear commitment to supporting colleagues as whole people – not just employees.
More than 4,500 colleagues are members of nine colleague‑led inclusion networks, supporting everything from menopause, fertility and disability inclusion to LGBTQ+ equality and neurodiversity. These networks play a key role in supporting women across different life stages and career paths, helping to remove barriers and shape inclusive workplace policies based on lived experience.
Alongside this, E.ON’s five development networks ensure learning and career development opportunities are open, flexible and accessible to all. This broad approach helps widen access to upskilling and reskilling, particularly in areas where greater representation and progression are needed.
Since 2018, more than 1,200 colleagues have taken part in over 100 apprenticeship programmes, strengthening skills across the business and building the workforce of the future. Investment in digital and data capability is a critical part of this, supporting both individual career progression and the modernisation of the UK’s energy system.
Investment in people underpins E.ON’s wider commitment to the UK’s energy system and economy. The company has pledged £2 billion this decade, to digitalise infrastructure, create purposeful, skilled jobs and support long‑term economic growth across the UK.
