E.ON creates 'Recharge HQ' to support the everyday heroes powering the UK's only disability sports series

E.ON is proud to continue its support of the Superhero Series powered by Marvel by launching Recharge HQ at this year's Superhero Tri – a dedicated wellbeing space designed to support the volunteers who help make the event possible.

2026 marks a special milestone as the Superhero Series powered by Marvel celebrates its 10th anniversary. Over the past decade, the UK's one and only disability sports series has been breaking down barriers through fun, bold and inclusive mass-participation events, where people with disabilities – the Everyday Superheroes – are firmly in control. With no cut-off times or equipment restrictions, the Series is built around accessibility, teamwork, community and ensuring everyone has the opportunity to take part.

This milestone year makes E.ON's continued partnership even more meaningful, as the company joins in celebrating a decade of championing inclusion and creating opportunities for people of all abilities to enjoy sport.

This year, E.ON's focus is on the incredible team of volunteers, known as Sidekicks, who keep the event running from start to finish. From welcoming participants and guiding athletes around the course to providing encouragement throughout the day, Sidekicks play an essential role in creating the welcoming atmosphere that makes the Superhero Series such a unique and inspiring event.

At this year’s events, E.ON has created ‘Recharge HQ’ – a dedicated space where volunteers can take a well-earned break, relax and recharge between shifts. Complete with comfortable deck chairs, goodies and refreshments to replenish energy levels, the hub offers a calm and welcoming environment where Sidekicks can rest before heading back out to support participants.

Recharge HQ reflects E.ON's commitment to powering people as well as places. Just as E.ON helps homes and businesses manage their energy every day, the company is helping the people behind the event preserve theirs – recognising that the success of Superhero Tri depends not only on the athletes taking part, but also on the volunteers who make every moment possible.

Scott Somerville, Director of External Affairs at E.ON UK, said: "Superhero Tri is an inspiring celebration of determination, inclusion and community spirit. Building an inclusive workplace where everyone can contribute and succeed is a core aspiration for E.ON, so we're proud to support an event that champions accessibility and ensures everyone has the opportunity to take part. While participants rightly take centre stage, none of it would be possible without the incredible volunteers who give their time and energy to support them.”

Sophia Warner, Paralympian and Founder of Superhero Series said: “It's incredibly special to have E.ON with us as we celebrate our 10th birthday. They were there right at the beginning, helping to power our very first Superhero Series event. It means a great deal that they're still part of our journey a decade later.

Our Sidekick volunteers are the heart of our events and Recharge HQ is the perfect way of recognising the incredible volunteers who give their time & energy to make every Mission possible. We're hugely grateful to E.ON for helping us celebrate this milestone by super powering the people who superpower the Superheroes!"

As the Superhero Series celebrates its tenth birthday, E.ON is proud to play its part in supporting an event that continues to redefine what inclusive sport can look like. Whether they're handing out medals, welcoming participants, providing directions or offering a word of encouragement, every volunteer helps create an unforgettable day.

Through Recharge HQ, E.ON is proud to be powering the people who power Superhero Tri – because every superhero deserves the chance to recharge.
