Residents at Hungate Court

Delivering better homes and lowering energy bills in North Yorkshire

As part of our commitment to creating a new energy world, we’ve proudly installed a variety of energy efficiency measures for residents in North Yorkshire, ensuring their homes are comfortable both now and in the future.

We teamed up with Beyond Housing to complete a major energy efficiency upgrade at Hungate Court in Filey, North Yorkshire — and the results are already making a real difference for residents.

The project focused on retrofitting 32 flats with improvements including improved insulation, efficient heat pumps and solar panels, all designed to boost comfort, lower energy bills, and reduce carbon emissions.

The impact? Every flat now meets an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) rating of C or better — a major step forward in tackling fuel poverty and supporting long-term sustainability. And residents can expect to save up to £630 a year on their energy bills1. In a time when the cost of living pressures persist, these kinds of savings are not just helpful — they’re essential.

But it’s not just about numbers. Residents are now experiencing homes that are better insulated and more comfortable. Many have shared how much cosier their living spaces feel, and the pride they now feel in seeing the improvements to their buildings.

Watch the video below to hear directly from some of the residents and see the difference the upgrades have made.

We’re proud to work in partnership to deliver practical, meaningful improvements that help residents truly feel comfortable in their homes. And the success of our project at Hungate Court has laid the groundwork for future energy efficiency improvements and will serve as a blueprint for similar social housing retrofit projects nationwide.

In fact, our project recently won Large-Scale Project of the Year at the Yorkshire Energy Efficiency Awards, recognising our collaboration with Beyond Housing to deliver healthier homes, lower energy bills and transformed lives for residents.
