CEO Chris Norbury continues executive sponsorship of embRace

Creating an inclusive workplace is an ongoing journey: one that requires commitment, collaboration, and a willingness to listen and learn. We're proud of the progress we've made in creating a culture where people from all backgrounds can succeed, while recognising there's always more to do.

As part of that commitment, our Chief Executive Officer, Chris Norbury, is continuing in his role as Executive Sponsor of embRace, our colleague network dedicated to championing race equity and inclusion across the business. In his own words, Chris reflects on why this work matters and the role we all play in building a workplace where everyone feels they belong.

“Creating a workplace where everyone feels valued, respected, and able to succeed is fundamental to who we are as a business.

Diversity, equity, and inclusion are not separate from our business strategy – they’re essential to it. They help us innovate, make better decisions, and deliver for our customers. When people feel they belong, they can do their best work.

That's why I'm pleased to continue as Executive Sponsor of our embRace network. embRace plays an important role in creating space for conversation, raising awareness, and helping us better understand each other's experiences.

We've made strong progress thanks to the dedication of the embRace members, committee, and steering group. Our commitment to creating a positive and inclusive workplace has also been recognised externally, with us being named one of the Top 10 Sunday Times Best Places to Work for the second consecutive year.

While we're proud of our achievements, we know there is more to do. I remain committed to listening, learning, and supporting meaningful action to help drive race equity across our organisation.

I'd like to thank everyone involved in embRace for their passion and commitment. I encourage all colleagues to engage with the network, whether that's by attending events, listening to others, or joining the conversation.

Building an inclusive culture is a shared responsibility, and together we can continue creating a workplace where everyone can thrive.”

Continuing the journey

We believe that fostering an inclusive culture isn't a one-off initiative, it's part of how we work every day. Through networks like embRace, the commitment of our colleagues, and the support of our leaders, we're continuing to create an environment where everyone can bring their whole selves to work, contribute, and succeed.
