Supporting greener spaces and safer streets in Blackpool

From planting trees to delivering long‑term lighting upgrades, E.ON works alongside Blackpool Borough council to make improvements across the town

Recently colleagues from E.ON’s Blackpool lighting depot teamed up with Blackpool Council at Anchorsholme Park to plant 1,200 trees spanning nine different species. Despite blustery conditions, the team worked quickly to complete the planting, helping to boost biodiversity and improve a much-loved local green space.

Strengthening the effort on the day, E.ON was joined by subcontractors, Hadfield Civils and Swarco, demonstrating how effective company collaboration can help drive the success of community projects.

This activity reflects a wider, long-standing partnership. For over 25 years, E.ON Utility Solutions has supported Blackpool Council by maintaining street lighting, signs and traffic signals, while contributing to regeneration across the town.

Looking ahead, around 15,000 street lights across Blackpool are set to be upgraded to energy-efficient LED technology from 2027. This will reduce energy use, lower costs, and improve lighting quality for residents.

At E.ON we take care of street lighting for local authorities, highways agencies and housing developers across the country, to keep streets safe, reliable and sustainable. From essential infrastructure to community initiatives, the focus is simple: supporting places people are proud to call home.
