Smart savings on the clock: E.ON Next launches new two-year Next Smart Saver tariff as customers collectively save £2.3m
- E.ON Next customers have collectively saved £2.3 million1 by moving electricity use away from 4pm-7pm peak periods
- The two-year Next Smart Saver tariff offers fixed off-peak and super off-peak electricity rates until 2028
- Households can lower electricity costs by shifting everyday electricity use like washing, dishwashing and cooking to cheaper times of day.
The new two-year tariff gives customers the certainty of fixed off-peak and super off-peak electricity rates until 2028, while retaining the flexibility to leave without paying exit fees if their circumstances change.
The launch comes as research2 commissioned by E.ON Next suggests many households may still be missing out on potential savings by not shifting their electricity use to cheaper times of day. More than a third (34%) of people are unaware they could pay less for electricity by shifting their usage, while only half (50%) say they understand what off-peak electricity means.
Next Smart Saver is designed to help customers take greater control of their energy use by rewarding those who can shift some electricity consumption away from peak periods. While time of use tariffs are often associated with technologies such as EV chargers, heat pumps and home batteries, customers can still benefit from Next Smart Saver simply by making simple changes, such as running washing machines and dishwashers during cheaper off-peak periods.
Steve Davies, Director of Strategy and Commercial at E.ON Next, said: "During the summer months, longer daylight hours often mean people are awake and active at home later, creating more opportunities to shift electricity use into lower-cost off-peak periods.
"Customers on Next Smart Saver have already collectively saved £2.3 million by moving electricity use away from peak times, and our new two-year tariff gives households the certainty of fixed off-peak rates until 2028."
Customers can now choose between a one-year and two-year version of Next Smart Saver, giving them greater flexibility over how they access lower-cost electricity through dedicated off-peak and super off-peak periods.
