PRICE ALERT: E.ON Next reassures EV drivers with long, low‑cost off‑peak charging as UK fuel prices continue to fluctuate
- E.ON Next offers lower-cost overnight charging options for EV drivers with its Next Drive Smart and Next Drive Fixed tariffs, designed to provide stability in a volatile wholesale market.
- Customers can save an average of £401 and £377 respectively compared to the new Energy Price Cap when charging their EV during dedicated off‑peak hours.
E.ON Next has refreshed its electric vehicle (EV) tariffs, ensuring EV drivers can continue charging their vehicles overnight at consistently low rates, providing confidence and cost certainty amid ongoing fluctuations in the energy market.
Tariff detail:
Customers charging their car off-peak on Next Drive Smart can save £401 per year compared to charging on the energy price cap*.
Next Drive Smart v6.1 features two rates:
- Off-peak (12am – 6am): 8p/kWh
- Day rate (6am – 12am): 29.04p/kWh
In addition, customers charging off-peak on Next Drive Fixed v19 can save £377 per year compared to charging on the energy price cap.
- Off-peak (12am – 6am): 9p/kWh
- Day rate (6am – 12am): 30.62p/kWh
And customers who choose to sign up to Next Drive Smart or Next Drive Fixed will also experience additional benefits:
- With no exit fees on the tariff, customers have flexibility if their circumstances change.
- Customers can get a free 1-year subscription to Zoom EV, an online platform that gives you benefits and discounts on things like public charging, parking, car hire, and much more.
- The tariff also includes a one-off donation to the Woodland Trust which will contribute towards restoring the UK’s ancient woodland.

Off-peak rates on the Next Drive Smart tariff are fixed at 8p/kWh between 12am-6am daily, applying to EV charging and whole home electricity use. Smart meter with half hourly consent required. You must have an eligible electric vehicle and charger. If you do not boost charge, you will always be charged at off-peak rate of 8p/kWh. Any boost charges or charging without using the smart charging feature during peak hours will be billed at the peak rate of 29.04p/kWh. Information correct at time of send (23 March). Next Drive Fixed v16 offers fixed priced overnight EV charging 9p/kWh between 12am and 6am versus Next Flex standard variable tariff rate from 1 April 2026 at 24.67p/kWh (national average and will vary by region). Based on dual fuel customers, paying by Direct Debit. Terms and conditions apply.
