E.ON Next - EV

PRICE ALERT: E.ON Next cuts overnight EV charging to 6.5p/kWh, with the lowest off-peak rate currently on the market

  • Next Drive Smart now offers overnight charging at 6.5p/kWh between 12am and 6am, while Next Drive Fixed drops to 8.5p/kWh.
  • Both EV tariffs could save customers, on average, £476 and £428 respectively compared with charging on the current energy price cap.
  • With average petrol and diesel prices now around 175p and 199p*** per litre respectively, the lower overnight rate highlights the cost-saving benefits of charging an EV at home.

EV drivers can now charge at home overnight for 6.5p/kWh with E.ON Next, after the energy supplier cut the off-peak rate on its Next Drive Smart tariff.

Available between midnight and 6am, the new rate is currently the lowest off-peak EV charging rate on the market*, giving EV drivers a lower-cost way to charge at home overnight. The tariff could save drivers on average £476 a year compared to charging on the energy price cap**.

Plus, customers get the 6.5p/kWh off-peak rate for their whole home every night from midnight-6am on Next Drive Smart.

In addition, E.ON Next has also reduced its Next Drive Fixed tariff, cutting the off-peak rate to 8.5p/kWh.

As drivers face higher fuel prices at the pumps, E.ON Next is enabling EV drivers with a home charger to access low-cost charging at home. By shifting EV charging into the overnight window, customers can take advantage of the lower rate, which means lower energy bills without using less energy overall.

With no exit fees on Next Drive Smart or Next Drive Fixed, customers have flexibility if their circumstances change.

Customers can also get a free 1-year subscription to Zoom EV, providing access to benefits and discounts including public charging, parking and car hire, as well as a one-off donation to the Woodland Trust to contribute towards restoring the UK's ancient woodland.

For customers who are struggling with their energy bills, E.ON Next offers a range of measures to help, including the E.ON Next Energy Fund, flexible payment plans, the Priority Services Register and extra credit for prepayment customers. To find out more visit eonnext.com/customersupport.
