MEDIA ALERT: 60,000 customers now on UK’s first mass-market time of use tariff
More than 60,000 customers are now on Next Smart Saver, the UK’s first mass-market time of use tariff. That’s enough people to fill Nottingham Forest’s City Ground twice over — two sold-out match days, or a day’s festive crowds at Hyde Park Winter Wonderland.
Next Smart Saver gives customers access to cheaper off-peak electricity, empowering them to reduce their energy bills by shifting their usage.
E.ON Next’s data shows customers on the UK’s first mass market time-of-use tariff are positively changing their energy behaviour, and nearly three out of four customers (73%) have shifted their energy use away from peak times into the early morning super-off peak period.
Time of Use tariffs are typically aimed at customers with home solutions such as EV chargers and heat pumps. With Next Smart Saver, customers can benefit without needing a home solution.
Next Smart Saver is a 12-month fixed-term tariff with three electricity rates:
- Off-peak (5am-4pm, 7pm-2am), currently costing 21.97 p/kWh.
- Super off-peak rates (2am-5am), currently costing 16.34 p/kWh .
- Peak (4pm-7pm), currently costing 39.99 p/kWh.
