Made for this game: celebrating the Lionesses’ triumph and the power of equality in football
E.ON highlights how the Lionesses’ historic win is driving a revolution aimed at finally levelling the playing field for every woman and girl in sport
At E.ON, we believe in the power of people coming together to make something extraordinary happen – just like England’s Lionesses did at the Euros 2025.
Their incredible victory isn’t just a win on the pitch, it’s a moment echoing the values we share with The Football Association (The FA): resilience, inclusion, and the unstoppable belief that everyone is truly made for this game.
The Lionesses’ back-to-back European titles are a testament to skill, dedication and breaking barriers.
Their journey mirrors the ethos behind The FA’s inspiring Made for This Game campaign, which celebrates the spirit of every woman and girl who’s ever dared to dream of football as more than just a pastime, but a place where they truly belong.
A shared vision for equality and opportunity
E.ON is proud to partner with the England Senior Women’s team because our values align so deeply.
We champion equal opportunity – whether that’s in powering homes and businesses sustainably or supporting initiatives breaking down barriers for women and girls in football.
The Made for This Game campaign is about unlocking doors that have been closed for too long, creating a level playing field so every girl, regardless of age, background, or ability, can access, participate and thrive in football.
It’s about saying loudly and clearly: you belong here.
This powerful movement builds on the remarkable success of the Let Girls Play campaign, which helped ensure girls now have equal access to football in schools – a fundamental step in nurturing the next generation of Lionesses, coaches, referees and leaders.
Since then, the number of women and girls playing football has surged by more than 50 percent, female coaches have nearly doubled, and female referees have more than doubled.
This progress reflects a shift in mindset – one we at E.ON celebrate because it resonates with our commitment to empowerment and sustainability for all.
Powering the passion beyond the pitch
The Lionesses’ victory parade down The Mall this week, cheered by 65,000 fans, was a moment of pure joy and unity.
Chloe Kelly’s very candid celebration reminded us all football is raw, emotional and utterly human.
It’s that authenticity and passion we see every day when we power communities across the UK.
Like The FA, E.ON believes in harnessing energy to power people’s potential.
The Lionesses inspire millions, showing young girls what is possible when talent meets opportunity. That’s why we’re committed to supporting women and girls at every level – from grassroots football to the biggest stages on the continent.
More than a game: a movement
The Made for This Game campaign goes beyond the 90 minutes on the pitch. It highlights that football is a field of opportunity – for players, coaches, referees, journalists and business leaders.
This is a future where women aren’t just participants; they are pioneers shaping the game’s next era.
At E.ON, our partnership with The FA is built on this belief in progress and inclusion.
Together, we’re working to inspire the next generation – ensuring the energy powering homes also fuels dreams.
From also driving stadiums to enabling schools’ football sessions, our support underpins the infrastructure that allows football to flourish.
Looking ahead: reaching higher, together
As the Lionesses’ goalkeeper Hannah Hampton says: “Don't let people tell you what you can and can't do.
“If you've got a dream you can go out and do it. I got told so many times that I'm not good enough, that I shouldn't be playing football from the start.
“Just keep doing it and if it makes you happy go follow that smile."
But the journey toward true equality in football is ongoing.
As The FA’s Reaching Higher strategy outlines, the future holds even greater potential – with sustained growth in women’s and girls’ football, better facilities and wider access for all.
E.ON proudly stands alongside the Football Association in this mission.
Together, we’re powering a movement that’s made for this game – a game where every woman and girl knows they belong, where the roar of the crowd is a call to action… and where the next generation’s heroes are already dreaming big.
Here’s to the Lionesses, to every woman and girl on the pitch, and to the shared power of progress – because at E.ON, we’re proud to be part of a future that’s truly made for this game.
