Hertsmere shifts up a gear with the arrival of electric vehicle chargers
Electric car drivers across Hertsmere now have greater access to charging points, thanks to a major rollout of electric vehicle charging points by Hertsmere Borough Council and E.ON.
E.ON Drive has officially opened electric vehicle (EV) charging hubs, providing reliable charging in one of the country's busiest motoring areas.
The 74 new electric charging points are being installed across nine car parks operated by Hertsmere Borough Council.
The first sites located in Borehamwood, Bushey and Potters Bar are now open, with further charging points set to go live by the end of the year. The new facilities offer AC and DC charging up to 50kW, allowing drivers to recharge vehicles quickly and efficiently.
Dev Chana, Managing Director for E.ON Drive Infrastructure UK, said: “Reliable and convenient charging infrastructure is key to giving people the confidence to make the switch to cleaner transport. These new charging points across key community locations are just another part of helping to build a network that supports drivers as they switch to electric vehicles.”
The initial phase of the project brings charging stations to prominent locations throughout the borough, providing residents and visitors with a quicker and more convenient way to recharge while out and about.

And it’s not just in Hertsmere where we’re helping communities accelerate towards the EV revolution. E.ON Drive charging hubs are already powering motorists around the UK, including in Wales and Scotland. In Coventry as part of our 15 year strategic energy partnership we’re installing public charging points in key public car parks and have plans to develop more points on public buildings across the city. With nearly 500 public charging points per 100,000 residents, the city already ranks among the UK’s best locations for EV drivers outside London.
Further afield in Copenhagen E.ON Drive operates one of the largest urban changing networks with more than 1,000 charge points.
E.ON Drive operates one of the largest charging networks in Europe, with at least 1,000 new public fast charging points added every year. In the UK we’re building a network of ultra-fast charging stations with access to over 20,000 charge points via our E.ON Drive Comfort app, providing real time information to customers wherever their journey takes them.
