E.ON Next Net Zero Training Academy wins at the Social Value Awards

Building skills for a sustainable future

Since its launch in 2016, the E.ON Next Net Zero Training Academy has been at the forefront of upskilling people for the energy transition. More than 700 engineers have already been trained in low-carbon technologies, gaining the hands-on expertise required to deliver greener, more efficient energy solutions across homes and businesses in the UK.

The Academy’s reach extends far beyond E.ON. Over 1,000 community members have taken part in training focused on renewable energy, the circular economy and low-carbon living, helping individuals and local organisations understand how to take practical steps towards sustainability.

Education and inspiration are also central to the Academy’s mission. Through partnerships such as Skills Street, immersive learning experiences and virtual reality sessions, more than 16,000 students have been engaged in exploring the green careers of the future. These initiatives are helping to spark interest among young people and build the next generation of Britain’s low-carbon workforce.

To make all this possible, E.ON has invested £600,000 in modernising the Academy’s facilities, creating state-of-the-art spaces designed to support practical, low-carbon learning. The site now serves as a dynamic hub for innovation, collaboration and capability-building — empowering individuals and communities to play an active role in achieving Net Zero.
